April 15, 2026 — Vigilance defines the standard of care at the Lassa fever isolation center in Makurdi, Benue State. With recurrent outbreaks of the viral hemorrhagic fever in the region, state health authorities have significantly enhanced infection prevention and control (IPC) protocols.
Supported by the World Health Organization (WHO) and other partners, healthcare workers are receiving intensive training on patient management and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). The collaborative effort aims not only to provide timely and effective treatment to patients but also to protect frontline workers and prevent further community transmission.
