The US Department of Justice has officially launched a sweeping antitrust investigation targeting three of the largest technology conglomerates in the country. The probe focuses on alleged anti-competitive practices in digital advertising and app store distribution models.
The Attorney General announced the investigation from the DOJ headquarters, stating that no corporation is above the law. “When massive entities use their market dominance to crush small competitors and limit consumer choice, it undermines the very foundation of free-market capitalism,” the AG declared.
The companies involved have strongly denied the allegations, preparing for what promises to be a lengthy and historic legal battle. Industry analysts predict the probe could ultimately lead to calls to break up certain tech divisions entirely.
